Our Deep-Dive Review: Benefit Cosmetics Brow Products

Our Deep-Dive Review: Benefit Cosmetics Brow Products

I’ve talked before about how obsessed I am with great brows. My own brows are nearly invisible thanks to my naturally pale blonde hair, so I’ve spent a ton of time and money over the years experimenting with different products and methods of tinting and shaping my eyebrows. One day, I’ll probably spring for microblading, but until then, I’m pretty reliant on cosmetics to give me the gorgeous, natural-looking brows I want.

In the same way that I’m a magpie constantly collecting shiny new brightening serums, I also have a compulsive need to try every new and shiny brow product I come across. We all have our crosses to bear, I guess.

Anyway, today I’m going to talk about the Benefit brow product lineup because it’s cute, fun, and still pretty popular even though it isn’t a brand new release. Most of the products were amazing for me, but even the ones that didn’t suit my brows were great and would probably be perfect for lots of you guys.

So, let’s dive in!

Benefit Gimme Brow+ Brow-Volumizing Fiber Gel

I absolutely LOVE a good tinted fiber gel for my brows, but they’re not easy to find! See, my brows are fairly thick (I never went through the wild overplucking trend of the ’90s and early ’00s), but where the hairs are so fine and light, they look sparse if I just try to use a pencil to fill them in.

Most tinted gels just kind of plaster my brow hairs awkwardly to my face, or they leave behind patchy pigment that makes it look like I’m wearing a cheap brow wig. Yikes.

This Gimme Brow gel doesn’t do any of that! The brush is super tiny, so I can easily brush the fibers through and build them up wherever I need extra help, and I love how natural and fluffy my brows look when I’m done! There’s no “wow that looks like a crappy tint job” worry, and it looks great whether I use the gel alone or with other brow products.

Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil Ultra-Fine Brow Defining Pencil

When your brows are sparse, patchy, or light, the right brow pencil can make a huge difference. Yeah, you can use a cheap eyeliner pencil (I’ve done that plenty, trust me), but they tend to smear, smudge, or cake on, which isn’t cute.

This Benefit Precisely brow pencil and the It Cosmetics brow pencil are my two favorites for filling in those spots that look a little bare before I swipe on my brow gel.

The pencil is super thin, so it’s easy to make light, natural strokes, and the formula doesn’t tug your skin or drag off the first layer of color if you add more. It can be blended out pretty easily with the attached spoolie (I LOVE when brands give me a convenient spoolie!), or you can use a fluffy eyeshadow brush.

It’s waterproof too, which means that I can sweat a little or get caught in the rain without my brows running down my face (uh, praise the Beauty Gods for that).

Benefit 24-HR Brow Setter Invisible Shaping & Setting Gel

If you already have dark or well-formed brows (you lucky duck), you might just want something that lets you smooth them down or gloss them up without adding volume or color.

Obviously, that’s not me, but I do like Benefit 24-HR Brow Setter! If it was tinted, I would definitely use it more. It’s a conditioning formula that helps your brows grow thicker and fuller (yes please!), but it also gives you smooth, sleek brows, too. They say that it can be used as a primer for other brow products, but that didn’t work super well for me (probably just because I have to really create my brows from scratch everyday, sigh).

Ka-Brow! Cream-Gel Brow Color

Ah yes, back to the realm of color, where my brows forever live. Using creams and powders to add color to your brows can be tricky because you’re dancing on a fine line between “looks great” and “you need a brow intervention, sweetie.”

So many creams and gels are too intense, and it’s not easy to create a natural look, or even one that’s only a little bit dramatic. Most of the creams and powders I’ve tried are either patchy or drama cranked up to 11, which is just not what I’m after.

The Ka-Brow! is one of the few products that lets me build up the drama without being uneven, powdery, or too wet. I will say that the brush it comes with has a bit of a learning curve, but the brow color itself is great! I also like that it comes in a wider range of shades with both warm and cool undertones because it’s easier to find a color that matches your hair and skin.

How Do You Brow?

As much as I enjoy these Benefit brow products, you’d better believe that I’m still on the market for my next favorite thing. After all, magpies never stop collecting sparkly treasures just because they already have some, right?

Do you have a favorite brow tint, fiber gel, or pencil that I need to try? Tell me how you do your brows in the comments so that I can add to my ever-growing wishlist!
