I proudly admit that I’m a 34-year-old woman who downloaded TikTok as a joke, and now over a year into the pandemic, my screen time has shot up about 600 percent, courtesy of my endless daily scrolling.
And I’ve also spent a LOT of money. That’s the power of TikTok—I see someone try something cool and two seconds later I’m either in the car or I’m whipping out my debit card. So today, I thought I share with you some of the things that TikTok made me buy and if they lived up to the hype.
I’ve already written a love letter to these scrubs, but just know that they are WORTH IT. Worth tracking down at three different stores on a Sunday afternoon. Worth scouring Amazon for. Worth the money. They smell great, feel even better, and my skin always feels so lush and decadent after a long self-care shower.

I’m not a big white wine drinker, but once I learned that this is apparently Drake’s favorite wine (and a bunch of other celebs), I had to try it. It’s about $18 to $25 dollars a bottle, depending on where you get it, so completely affordable, which was SUPER surprising. And the best part? It’s delicious. It’s very crisp, very drinkable (which could be good or bad, depending on how you see it). Now that summer is right around the corner, I see myself drinking it a lot in my future.

I saw these trending on TikTok and just knew it would make me buy them. The Dew Drops are basically a highlighter-skincare combo in one, promising to give you the look of a highlight, without any mica, glitter, or shimmer—just dewy, natural goodness. And they weren’t wrong. I love how you can use the product in a multitude of ways. On no-makeup days, I apply it over my sunscreen for an all over glow, and on days when I wear makeup, I mix a pump into my foundation. And sometimes, I even take the product and dab a little into the high points of my face for a glitter-free highlighter look. Definitely, 100 percent worth the money.

I saw this trending on TikTok as a dupe to what is probably my favorite lip gloss formulation of all time—Fenty Gloss Bomb—and went to Ulta to find it immediately. And let’s just say, it does not disappoint. I actually ended up going back for more shades because I like it so much. Priced at $9 (or about half the price of the Fenty version), this gloss feels absolutely fantastic on your lips. It’s not sticky, delivers a great shine, and is so hydrating it can actually be used as a lip balm too. I have the shades Moon, Sand, and Pearl and all of them are amazing.

I religiously use sunscreen on my face, but I admit that I definitely neglect using sunscreen on my body, unless I’m at the beach or the pool. Since the pandemic, I’ve taken up walking as one of my main forms of exercise. I’m out on the trail at least three to four times a week without sunscreen on my body so I figured I could give this a shot. And listen—it’s wonderful. As a Black woman, I was super afraid I was going to be pasty and streaky all over, but it doesn’t leave a white cast at all. It feels super lightweight and not sticky, perfect for long walks outside or upcoming outdoor picnics with friends.
