As I get older, I’m realizing more and more that I tend to do things the hard way. Beauty is no exception to this. I’ve been trying to embrace the “work smarter, not harder” adage in my daily life, and I’m constantly surprised by how many gadgets and shortcuts exist!
So, to spread the gospel of convenience, I’m going to share some of my favorite beauty tools on Amazon that have made my life so much simpler.
1. Winged Eyeliner Stamps
My winged liner skills have gotten a lot better with time and practice, but it’s still a struggle for me to get that perfect, matching wing consistently.
Turns out that the solution to my problems was on Amazon all along. (Should’ve known, right?) There are several eyeliner stamp + pen options, but the one I’ve tried and love is the Flick Stick.
It comes with two pens (one for each eye), and you can buy it in different thicknesses depending on how chunky of a wing you want. The eyeliner pen isn’t my favorite, but I love the ease and convenience of the stamp side.
2. Silicone Face and Body Scrubbies
When I was a teen, I used to buy a particular type of Clean and Clear acne face wash that came with a little pop-out silicone scrubby pad. I remembered how much I liked that little scrubby one day and decided to try to find a better one that wasn’t attached to a horrible face wash.
After a couple of tries to figure out the right search term (“silicone scrubber for face” worked), I found these face scrubbies. They’re cheap, well-made, and perfect for gentle exfoliation.
They also make fancier electric versions similar to the Foreo Luna (like this beauty tool on Amazon, so that could be a good intro option if you aren’t sure about splurging on a Luna just yet.
In my quest to find a silicone face scrubby, I discovered that they make much larger ones that are great for your body (especially if you have a hard time washing your back as I do). I purchased this silicone body scrubber a few months ago when I was revamping my shower routine, and it has been so helpful! I’m still not completely sure how you’re supposed to use the knobby side, but the scrubby side is perfect.
3. Better Beauty Sponges
I have to be honest. I don’t mind splurging on beauty items if I think they’re worth it, but I just can’t pay for a Beauty Blender brand sponge. I’m perfectly happy to buy knockoff sponges that do the same job for WAY less money.
These Beakey blending sponges are, in my opinion (and the opinions of friends who I’ve converted!), better than the OG Beauty Blender. You get a pack of five for under $10, and they LAST. I can keep the same one for months before it starts to get any telltale cracks in the material.
They puff up so well when you wet them, and the material is just *chef’s kiss* perfect for bounce-blending whatever liquid, cream, or powder you’re working with.
In short, I’m never buying any other beauty sponge.
4. Long-handled Lotion Applicators
I have short arms. I joke about being a T. rex because of my many short-arms struggles. Applying lotion to my back is one of those struggles. I’m flexible, so I can do an okay job, but it’s annoying to have to perform Cirque du Soleil contortions after every shower.
I know that you can probably find these in the drugstore too, but these long-handled applicators are amazing. I thought they would absorb a lot of product, but thankfully that’s not the case.
It’s really easy to get lotion onto the hard-to-reach places on my back now, and I’m thinking about using it on vacation to make sure I get enough sunscreen on my back, too.
5. Shampoo Brushes
It’s funny how a $5 tool can make so much of a difference! I had tried a hard plastic shampoo brush in the past, but it was scratchy and tangled my hair, so I gave up and went back to washing my hair with just my hands.
Because I’m always looking for ways to make my hair grow and look as healthy as possible, I decided to try a different shampoo brush with silicone bristles instead. Now, I don’t wash my hair without it. It’s easier on my arms (I have a lot of hair), it helps with tangles, and it gives me a nice scalp massage too!
I bought this two-pack of brushes, and I keep the second one on my nightstand to massage in my The Ordinary hair density treatment every night.
Working Hard Is For the Birds
I’m a total convert to convenience. If I find a gadget or tool that looks promising, I’m ready to try it. I’ve saved myself so much time and irritation by just buying a tool, so I’m hoping that you can benefit from them as much as I have!
If you have a favorite time-saving beauty tool you’ve found on Amazon or elsewhere, drop it in the comments, and tell me why you love it!
